Entering a new age of beauty

Wild, adjective: living in a state of nature and not ordinarily tame or domesticated

They (whoever they are) say that ideas, concepts, trends and fads are cyclical, and everything comes back around. I’ve seen it happen and perhaps these emerging concepts of beauty are not really new but re-imagined for a modern age. I believe beauty, like other realms in popular culture, is becoming more holistic. It’s not just about what’s on your face and body but how you wear something, how it reflects and represents the whole person, what is authentic and true to the individual. I’m not mad at it. I think what I’m most excited about is the idea of getting away from a cookie-cutter beauty model and rather celebrate all ideas and concepts of beauty and personally what I find beautiful is that whoever is wearing or rocking said look, does it with complete abandon and acceptance of self. For example, I have a bucket (or two or three) of make-up in my collection and most if not, all are nude/natural tones. That’s what’s real and true for me. But boy do I love a woman who rocks a fuchsia eye look and owns that.

I truly believe that whatever we wear or however we present ourselves should simply be what we want and not what media is telling us to want. For me personally I love classic looks that emphasize my best features and isn’t overly done up. And as I mature, my understanding of who I am becomes clearer and thus my look has shifted in a direction that reflects this. I love gazing at high fashion but I am a low fashion gal—I love comfort. I love cozy. I love a skin focus with a glowing healthy-looking face. I love a nude lip. I love to use colour theory to compliment eye colours and make them pop. I love a blush moment (more is more, am I right?).

In launching this blog, it is my desire to connect with the modern woman on her own journey to accepting herself where she is at and maybe learn a little along the way. I will provide tips and tricks for make-up application, review and discuss the science behind different products, share tools I use and how to integrate them into your everyday routine. I want Wild Beauty to be a space for the wild woman; natural, not ordinarily tame or domesticated. Welcome!
